What does the person affected by Social Cognitive Challenges look like?
- Usually sits alone at lunchtime or recess
- Can't find a comfortable place for him/herself during group time collaboration in class
- Refuses to join a club or activity
- Very little interest in sports, especially team sports
- Not invited to birthday parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Sweet 16's and other social events, and is unfortunately aware of this
- Unable to initiate plans with peers
- Unable to maintain conversations and friendships
- Difficulty "reading" his listener
- Poor eye contact
- Speaks tirelessly about a topic that interests only him/her
- His/her best friend is a video game or laptop
- Exhibits inappropriate language/behavior regardless of his/her surroundings
- Difficulty transitioning from activity to activity without a tantrum, opposition or "meltdown."
